Three bodies found in three days in eMbalenhle

An unknown man was found dead on October 7 at the peace forest near Sasol Club, a street hawker’s body was found on October 8 and a motorist was found dead in the back seat of his car on October 9.

The bodies of three men who died under questionable circumstances were found in different locations in eMbalenhle in the first week of October.

The body of a well-known street hawker was found in a stream of sewage near the kraals of small-scale farmers in Ext 22 on October 8. His family identified him as Vusi Mtsweni, a man in his late 20s.

Mtsweni was known for selling sweets around eMbalenhle. He often visited the police station with his goods.

According to Constable Busi Mthethwa, the eMbalenhle police spokesperson, an inquest docket has been opened and the investigation continues. The docket might be changed to a case of murder. Mtsweni was found with visible injuries.

An unknown man was found dead on the night of October 7 at the peace forest near Sasol Club in eMbalenhle.

According to Mthethwa, police were alerted of a dead man in Ext 8.

Mthethwa said the police found the man lying face-up in a pool of blood. A nearby resident told the police he had heard gunfire earlier that night.

The man was declared dead on the scene and a murder case was opened. No arrests have been made yet.

A third man was found dead on the back seat of his Volkswagen Jetta in Ext 26 on October 9.

The cause of Johannes Moloi’s death is still unknown.

Mthethwa said the police have opened an inquest docket.
