Secunda Flying Squad confiscates dagga between Morgenzon and Standerton

The driver was arrested in connection with dealing in dagga and detained at Morgenzon Police Station.

A huge amount of dagga was discovered when Secunda Flying Squad patrolled the R39 Morgenzon/Standerton Road over the past week.

According to the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, the squad noticed a heavily loaded, suspicious-looking white Nissan NP 200, on June 26 at about 11:45.

They decided to stop the vehicle and after searching it, seven bags of dagga, weighing about 1 280kg were found in the bakkie.

The driver was arrested in connection with dealing in dagga and detained at Morgenzon Police Station.

The street value of the drugs is about R300 000.

According to the department, part of the investigation will be to establish where the dagga originated from. The vehicle has also been seized for further investigation.

The suspect was expected to appear in the Morgenzon Magistrate’s Court on June 28.

The provincial commissioner of SAPS, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, applauded the men and women in blue for their unwavering determination and vigilance in battling drug trafficking.
