Bethal Police arrest 50-year-old for suspected stolen cow feed

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the load matched goods that were reported stolen from a nearby Goedehoop Farm,” said Brig Mohlala.

A 50-year-old man appeared before the Bethal Magistrate’s Court for possession of suspected stolen goods today, September 13.

The suspect was spotted by the police who were conducting routine patrol duties around Bethal.

According to Brig Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, spokesman for the police in Mpumalanga, the police stopped and searched a white Opel Corsa bakkie.

“The members found white bags containing cow feed. They asked the suspect to provide ownership of the luggage, but he was tongue-tied.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the load matched goods that were reported stolen from a nearby Goedehoop Farm,” said Brig Mohlala.

The suspect was arrested and the bakkie confiscated. The load’s value is estimated at R15 000.
The provincial police commissioner, Lieut- Gen Semakaleng Daphney Manamela was pleased with the arrest. She said the police in Mpumalanga will remain available on the streets to ensure that every person and their properties are safe.
