Teaghen Ndlovu and Kathleho Gama are this year’s Mr and Miss Standerton High School. This annual glamour event on SHS’s calendar was held in the Standerton Teatro on October 9.
The pageant was hosted by SHS Alum, Diepe Waters actor and Groot FM radio host, Francois van Rensburg.
Thirty contestants took to the stage to thrill and delight the audience, and most importantly the judges.
The evening began with an informal dance, displaying the hard work they have put into rehearsing this event.
After the first dance, the 15 girls and 15 boys showed off different styles through the decades. Each pair of contestants looked their best as they danced through the ages.
During the intermission, Van Rensburg entertained the crowd with a golden oldie medley to which everyone could sing along. The formal portion of the evening was marked by stunning dresses and insightful questions.
Each contestant flaunted their best evening wear and had to think on their feet for their tricky questions.
Kholiwe Mbonani was asked what was the most useful thing she learned in school.
“Always make time for self reflection to see what you know and how far you’ve come,” she answered.
Tensions ran high as the event drew to a close.
Before announcing the winners for the evening, Van Rensburg thanked the many people and organisations who made the event possible, giving special praise to the Replika Church team for their excellent work on the lights and sound.
Suspense filled the room as Van Rensburg read the results. Okhule Ndlovu was crownd Mr Photogenic and Kimla Welmans Miss Photogenic.
The title of Mr Personality went to Regardt Burger and Miss Personality went to Kholiwe Mbonani.
Mthimkululu Radebe now hold the title of second prince title, with Alaina Cronjé as second princess.
Michale Kalell is the first prince and Kimla Welmans the first princess. Finally, Teaghen Ndlovu was crowned as Mr SHS 2024/25 and Kathleho Gama as Miss SHS 2024/25.
