Borehole brings hope to community in Sakhile

Cofco International teamed up with the Lekwa Local Municipality to bring hope to Ext 5 in Standerton.

Cofco International teamed with the Lekwa Local Municipality to erect a borehole in Ext 5 at the Sakhile Stadium. This will provide the community with fresh water and is a welcome upgrade to infrastructure.

“Most residents in this area did not have access to running water for five years,” said Tania Westmacott of Cofco International.

Several community representatives attended the handover of the borehole, showing their commitment to addressing critical issues in our community.

MMC for Technical Services Thabo Sebiloane; MMC for Community Services and Safety Corné Stoltz; Ward 5 Clr Litheko Marago and Ward 2 Clr Piet Radebe were all in attendance.

According to a statement released by the Lekwa Local Municipality, the partnership between Lekwa and Cofco International aims to extend its efforts to other wards that face similar challenges.

It was indicated that several areas need boreholes and this initiative will enhance water availability for the most affected areas.

The community was warned to use the water only for washing and other domestic uses outside of drinking and cooking, as the water still needs to undergo laboratory testing to determine the quality of the water.
