Holmdene Hall in Standerton to be completed by end September

This project was made possible by contributions from generous TFJ members, as well as many outside sponsors.

The Two For Joy Social Club (TFJ) recently started renovating and upgrading the Holmdene School Hall.

TFJ originally planned on building clean and safe bathroom facilities for the children of the school but identified a greater need upon visiting the run-down old hall.

As such, the mission began to create a safe space that would not only benefit the learners of the school but the Holmdene community as a whole.

The old structure was demolished on August 24 to make way for the new school hall. Currently, the work being done at the hall is at an advanced stage and the hall’s completion is estimated for the end of September.

“I am forever grateful for the work that is being done. We have attempted and pleaded with Government Structures since 2011 to receive assistance in revamping the hall to no avail until TFJ stepped in,” said former ward councillor and chairperson of the School Governing Body, Mandla Tshabalala.

The hall is nearing completion.

This project was made possible by contributions from generous TFJ members, as well as many outside sponsors.

“With the project nearing completion, anyone willing to donate to this worthy cause is more than welcome,” said Sipho Mkwanazi, chairperson of TFJ.

TFJ will be honouring learners and schools at a sports awards gala dinner on November 29. The event aims to continue encouraging learners to participate in sports such as soccer and netball and to keep them focused on something positive.

Anyone willing to donate to this cause can contact Mkwanazi at 071 688 6325.
