The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is investigating a case where a police officer from eMbalenhle Police Station allegedly shot a man (22) who later died at the Evander Hospital.
The police were summoned to Evander Hospital, where personnel showed them a dead man with gunshot wounds to his abdomen.
An eMbalenhle police officer allegedly shot him after an argument over a woman.
According to the information, the officer’s service firearm was seized and cartridges were taken from the scene for further investigation.
The Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhuli, confirmed to Ridge Times the case was at IPID for further investigation.
