Actress from Secunda lands roles with top streaming services

Dineo Rasedi (33) does it again with two top roles in drama series playing on Netflix and Showmax.

Local actress Dineo Rasedile (33) has done it again, but this time, she landed herself a lead role and main cast role in two drama series, one on Netflix and the other on Showmax.

She keeps improving and has moved away from her supporting roles on shows like MTV Shuga Down South to a lead role in Law, Love and Betrayal and a main cast role in Blood Legacy.

With her prayers answered, Rasedile said, “This is my first adult role in my 10 years. I always played the part of a teenager, and this is more of a grown-up character.”

Law, Love and Betrayal, a legal drama series, sees Rasedile play the role of Gugu Mabaso, a young lawyer from Thembisa with a tough background, fighting her way into a law firm.

“Gugu is on this quest not just to prove herself in the legal world but also to find the truth about herself through hidden secrets,” said Rasedile.

She said her lead role in this 13-part series was her most intense shoot ever.

“There is the legal jargon and so much more dialogue. We mostly shot in Rosebank and had a shoot at the high court in Johannesburg, the first time I ever experienced a courtroom.

“I worked with the most amazing cast – Nimrod Nkosi and Anelisa Phewa,” said Rasedile.

Law, Love and Betrayal premiered on Showmax on September 5. Before Law, Love and Betrayal, Rasedile had wrapped up shooting the Netflix drama series Blood Legacy.

“I play the character of Amahle alongside the late legendary Connie Chiume, the show’s matriarch.”

Local actress Dineo Rasedile (33) has landed herself roles in the Netflix drama Blood Legacy and the Showmax original, Law, Love and Betrayal.

Rasedile said she was honoured to act alongside Chiume, whom she had watched as a little girl.

Xolile Tshabalala plays the mother of Rasedile. The drama series Blood Legacy will premiere on September 20.

It has been all work and no play for Rasedile, who has shot back-to-back since her interview with the Ridge Times last year.

“I have prayed for consistent acting work. It has been exhausting physically and mentally, but whenever I get a break, I come home to my family, who keep me grounded,” said Rasedile.

Rasedile has a solid support system in her family.

“My parents are my pillars. They invested in every class, the training and the workshops I attended. They invested in me, and for them to see Dineo Rasedile on the screen and in the newspaper is a proud investment for them,” said Rasedile.

She is grateful to work back-to-back in an industry where work is so sporadic. Rasedile’s acting career began in September 2013 and showed much growth before she finally landed her dream role.

“To the youth, know that your dreams are valid and the world is smaller than you think.

“There are so many ways to experience the world and get what you are working on started if you are in the right mindset,” concluded Rasedile.
