The Julie-Ann School of Dance (JSD) students competed in the Dance Talent, Model Association (DTMA) provincial competition held in Evander from August 16 to 17.
The students did well, claiming the top spots in their categories. All the JSD students received their DTMA Mpumalanga provincial colours.
The JSD walked away with the best teacher award for the competition.
Special awards went to Thoa-nique Nortje (good acrobatics costume), Lana Te Water (determination award), duets Tiffiny van der Merwe and Micayla Haarhoff (sunshine award), Cornelia Pretorius (acrobatic excellence), Mia Grobler (best acrobatic interpretation), Cornelia Pretorius (rising star), Donna Scott (pretty perfection), Juane Kluyts (flow and structure), Anja Labuschange (dancer in the making) and Nala Mashilo (best smile award)
The overall winners: Klarabel Toerien (contempo petite), Te Water (senior contempo), Grobler (junior acrobatics), Kayla Engels (senior acrobatics), Te Water (16 years and over acrobatics), Milandri Meyers (junior hip-hop), Ilze-Mari Homan (senior hip-hop), Kwazi Matula (petite modern), Lonika Jovner (senior modern), Ilze-Mari Homan (senior disco), Nortje (petite freestyle), Mia Peens, Kiarah Fourie and Pretorius (junior freestyle), Homan (senior freestyle), Homan and Hailey van der Berg (senior duet), and Pretorius (impression).
