Vukta celebrates Women’s Month with the elderly in Secunda
Elderly people received blankets.
The Vukanini Taxi Association together with the Round Table celebrated Women’s Month with the elderly in the Govan Mbeki Municipality on August 14, at Secunda Taxi Rank.
When delivering his speech, the association chairperson, Fanyana Sibanyoni, said his association celebrates Women’s Month with elderly people yearly.
“The reason is that we respect our elders and they need to be celebrated while still alive not after they pass on.
“We always see some people buying expensive caskets for their elderly loved ones when they are dead but then they failed to celebrate them while they were still alive.
“Some people even slaughter goats and ask for forgiveness, but failed to feed them while they were still alive. To respect and honour our elderly people is a privilege,” said Sibanyoni.
As a sign of appreciation, members of the Vukta Taxi Association handed out blankets to the elderly.
