Walker Park Golf Club announces new committee at AGM

The new committee comprises Marius Moolman (committee member), Jaco Bam (vice chairperson), Peppie Petherbridge (club captain), Morne Nortje (chairperson), Chris Venter (vice-captain) and Arno Spangenberg (president).

EVANDER – At an AGM held on August 14, Walker Park Golf Club announced its new committee members for 2024/25.

They are Marius Moolman (committee member), Jaco Bam (vice chairperson), Peppie Petherbridge (club captain), Morne Nortje (chairperson), Chris Venter (vice-captain) and Arno Spangenberg (president).

Walker Park had a positive financial year where its income had increased and expenses were well managed within the inflation levels. The course improved during the year because of various interventions.

Walker Park is investigating the intensification of its green repair program, sod-cutter green repair, obtaining sufficient borehole capacity, migrating from electric to petrol golf cars, migrating to solar power and getting more sponsor participation.

A few problem greens remain and stronger measures are necessary. Chris Horrs was thanked for his tree-cutting project.

A special thanks and acknowledgement went to Walker Park staff and kitchen staff for their hard work and dedication over the past year. They thanked MJ Russell for her contributions and strong leadership.

Chris Janse Van Rensburg and his team also received thanks for the upkeep and good condition of the course, despite difficult circumstances and limited resources.

They also thanked all active members and sponsors who showed their support throughout the year.
