Parkrunners sprint to the finish line in Standerton

The Standerton River Park parkrun held their 256th event on July 27.

The past two parkruns were truly eventful, with 49 participants, five new personal bests and three first-timers on July 27 and 59 participants, five personal bests and three newcomers on August 3.

On July 27, Bongane Mpokane was the first to complete this 5km dash with a time of 18:14. Mbali Nkutha completed the run in 27:30, followed by Elihle Zikalala (27:30).

Robin Williams completed his first Standerton River Park parkrun in 28:02, followed by Ayanda Dlamini with a time of 29:15.

Neill Booysen completed his first parkrun in 29:16, followed by Jose Joseph (21:20) and Andrew Ainsworth (31:31).

Reanetse Given (31:38) and Jozine Francis (31:52) both crossed the finish line with new personal best times.


Passionate runners take part each week.

On August 3, Timothy Hoop finished the dash with a time of 22:43, followed by Eugene Viljoen, with a new personal best time of 25:31.

Andiswamahlubi Hadebe finished in 26:09. Welcome Mfanawethu Ndlangisa (26:44), Pieter Grobbelaar (27:50) and Andrew Ainsworth (30:09) followed.

First-timer, Jaco Taljaard completed the run in 31:05.

The volunteers who made these events possible are Catherine le Roux, Charl van Wyk, Gerhardus le Roux, Jennifer Naidoo, Johannes Vosloo, Leandri van Wyk, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Renette da Sousa, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Strini Naidoo, Zeldine Strydom, Elmien Vermaak, Frans Vermaak and Ruwan Vermaak

The parkrun takes place each week at the Standerton River Park at 08:00.
