Body of former police union member (61) found inside his car in Sundra

A murder investigation is underway after the body of Nkosinathi Theledi, a 61-year-old former general secretary of the Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (Popcru), was discovered inside his vehicle in Sundra on August 1.

The investigation was initiated after members of the SAPS found information that suggested that there was foul play surrounding his death.

According to reports, the victim left his residence in Gauteng on 31 July 2024, en route to Standerton. Concerned family members tried to contact him but were unsuccessful.

He was reported missing by the Norkem Park Police and the family also sought assistance from a car tracker service provider, which led to the victim’s vehicle being located in Sundra.

With the police and the paramedic’s arrival on the scene, Theledi was certified dead.

According to the Sundra Police preliminary investigation revealed that the victim’s two cell phones, wrist-watch as well his shoes were missing from the scene.

Theledi also displayed signs of physical trauma, including bruises and evidence of bleeding.
