eMzinoni Police warn community of false SAPS recruitment on social media

Community members are encouraged to visit the SAPS website and official social media platforms to stay informed of advertised posts.

The police have received numerous enquiries regarding an old advertisement that is currently circulating on social media platforms on the recruitment of 10 000 entry-level police trainees for the 2024/25 intake.

This particular application process already closed on August 31, 2023. The first batch of 4 500 trainees for the 2024/25 intake have already embarked on training at various SAPS academies across the country.

The second batch of 5 500 recruits will start training in January 2025; this process is yet to be finalised.

Community members are encouraged to visit the SAPS website and official social media platforms to stay informed of advertised posts.

Sergeant Cynthia Mtsweni, the eMzinoni police spokesperson said people should stop depositing money to the scammers who claim to be recruiting for the SAPS.

Mtsweni said they are faced with such cases in eMzinoni where people come to the station claiming to call for interviews to be recruited as police officers.

“Our community should know that currently there are no police recruitment and that advert they see on social media is being placed by scammers.

“We were surprised as police when people came to the police station claiming to come for the interviews. When we questioned them on who called them, they gave us names of people not working at our police station,” said Mtsweni.

Mtsweni said community members should stop paying for jobs because it is unlawful.
