Local businesses keep Lekwa clean

The improvement can be attributed to multiple local businesses and organisations that have taken matters into their own hands by setting up their initiatives to enhance the quality of life within the Lekwa community.

A quick drive through Standerton reveals that the overall quality of infrastructure and cleanliness of the town has greatly improved in recent years.

This improvement can be attributed to multiple local businesses and organisations that have taken matters into their own hands by setting up their initiatives to enhance the quality of life within the Lekwa community.

One of these businesses is the Lekwa Cleanup Crew (LCUC) whose hard work can be witnessed every week.

Whether the task is removing waste, cleaning streets or collecting refuse scattered about town, the LCUC is bettering the community, one project at a time. The Standerton community has a special place in the hearts of Kasselman Security Services and the LCUC.

“We grew up in Standerton and want to raise our children here,“ said Jandré Kasselman.

“It is important to create a clean environment for the children in our community to grow up in. Standerton has its challenges, like any town, but for as long as we can, we will continue to invest in our town.”

Janelize Roux of Ons Winkel Standerton branch, says it is important for businesses to get involved in the community.

These kinds of initiatives promote togetherness and motivate the rest of the community to unite to keep the town clean.

Local businesses fix infrastructure. Sunnyboy Khanye of Kosmos Lodge fixes potholes in Stander street.

The FF Plus council members Wilma and Dankus Venter also contribute significantly. They regularly take on projects to clean streets and remove waste to better the standard of living in Standerton.

The Lekwa Municipality was given a chance to reply to our questions but did not comment at the time of going to print.

Local businesses need to contribute to cleaning the Lekwa area, as waste accumulating in residential and business districts has negative effects on residents and the community’s future.

Children need a clean environment to flourish and grow. Without these local businesses, the Lekwa community would surely be in shambles.
