MP from Standerton wants to see improvement

“Most issues I raised, unfortunately, have not received much attention.”

Angel Khanyile, a recently sworn-in DA MP, has sketched Lekwa’s situation in parliament numerous times.
The Standerton Advertiser spoke to the MP at the airport the past week.

“I have used various mechanisms made available to us,” Khanyile said on June 21.

“Most issues I raised, unfortunately, have not received much attention.”

According to her, Standerton’s biggest challenges are inconsistent water supply and inferior quality of water; unemployment; and an incorrect billing system.

When asked whether she sees a better future for Standerton, she said yes.

“Of course, but first, we must engage the current administration.”

Khanyile also said they wanted a progress report on implemented projects, since 2021.

“All we want is improved lives in the community of Lekwa.

“We want them to experience the great service experienced by residents in Cape Town, Midvaal, Kouga and uMngeni.”

Whether we can expect help from the National Treasury will depend on engaging the current administration on this matter.

She said she would provide feedback after their meeting within the next few weeks.
