Men find unidentified body in Vaal River in Standerton

The SAPS worked with Kasselman Security Services and the fire department to extract the body from the river.

Two young men discovered a body in the Vaal River early on the morning of June 25.

On the scene, the SAPS worked with Kasselman Security Services and the fire department to extract the body from the river.

At first glance, it seemed like the body had been underwater for a significant time. The man wore a black shirt with dark jeans and white trainers.

According to the Standerton SAPS spokesperson, Captain Gibi Mtsweni, the unidentified man was about 30 years old.

His hands had two tattoos – ‘Dad’ sprawled on the right and ‘Mom’ on his left. There were no arrests at the time of publication, and the investigation is ongoing.

“At this stage, the body is unidentified, and the police ask any individuals with missing family members to come forward to identify the body,” added Mtsweni.
