Aerobics event in Standerton draws over 250

This event had about 265 participants, excluding the 34 instructors. People travelled from as far as Swaziland and Botswana.

The Morning Glory Fitness Crew (MGFC) hosted their annual aerobics marathon at the Standerton Town Hall on June 15.

According to Tshidiso ‘Skaapie’ Ndlovu, the event co-ordinator, the day was a success. The first MGFC aerobics marathon was held in Standerton three years ago and attracted 62 participants.

This event had about 265 participants, excluding the 34 instructors. People travelled from as far as Swaziland and Botswana.

“The event grows exponentially each year,” said Ndlovu.

This event was to start at 08:00 and end at about 17:00, but the exercise continued late into the night.

“The people insisted on continuing; they wanted more and more,” the organiser said.

Ndlovu admitted the crew considered giving up the event, but after hearing the excited feedback from participants, they decided to continue every year.

They hope to find a bigger venue to accommodate the growing number of exercise enthusiasts. The MGFC thanked Cebisa Mpulu, whose dedication and exceptional work made the event run smoothly.

All the participants took delight in the event.

They also thank their team for showing up, doing their best and making the event something the organisation could be proud of.

Various sponsors helped to make this event a success, such as the Mpumalanga Sports and Recreation Association and the Lekwa Municipality, which allowed the town hall to host the event.

The MGFC’s next event is a boot camp in November at the Sakhile Stadium. It will include several tournaments, such as soccer, netball, tennis and volleyball.

The team is excited to host this event, where fitness enthusiasts can come together and enjoy a day of exercise.
