About 50 parkrunners arrive at Standerton River Park

Timothy Hoop completed the 5km at the Standerton River Park in 24:52, while Zakkai Wessels recorded 26:56 and Gabriella de Oliveira 26:59.

Forty-eight people participated in the parkrun on June 22, with one athlete improving his time and three first-timers also in line.

Eugene Viljoen registered a new personal best of 28:10, followed by Janke Draper, who competed in her 50th event in 28:11.

Ayanda Dlamini clocked 29:42, Jose Joseph 31:05 and Petra Fischer 32:10. Andrew Ainsworth registered 32:43 in his 50th event, and Elmien Vermaak ran a time of 33:24.

This free event every Saturday offers runners, joggers and walkers the chance to compete against themselves.

Charl van Wyk, Danie Human, Fadeela Omar, Frans Vermaak, Jennnifer Naidoo, Johannes Vosloo, Leandri van Wyk, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Renette de Sousa, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Strini Naidoo and Zeldine Strydom ensured a smooth and safe event.

Some 28 brave souls arrived for the parkrun on June 15, attempting the distance in icy weather with a swirling mist.

De Oliveira crossed the finish line in 27:46, with Ainsworth registering 29:51 in his 50th event.

Joseph reached the finish line in 30:20, with Biju David coming in at 34:45. Elmien Vermaak clocked 33:43, Dina Oberholzer 36:09 and Omar 39:19.

Motsamayi Radebe recorded 40:30 in his 50th event, Nombuso Siwela 40:31 and Danie Human 41:01, also in his 50th event.

Catherine le Roux completed the 5km in 43:32, and Gerhardus le Roux did it in 43:54. Volunteers were on hand at this celebration of the parkrun’s 250th event.

Charl van Wyk, Conrie Roets, Frans Vermaak, Jan Lombaard, Vosloo, Leandri van Wyk, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Lydia Roets, Marjorie Uys, De Sousa, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg and Strydom were on hand for a safe and smooth event.
