Bethal police need help in identifying 2018 case of human remains not yet claimed

Bethal police are urgently looking for the family who can identify the human remains of their loved, after the discovery was made in May of 2018.

Human remains that were discovered in a field at Bankpan farm near Bethal on May 5, 2018, have still not been identified or claimed by a family.

The human remains, believed to be that of a black adult man, were discovered by a shepherd in a field near a stream of a river.

The remains were found with pieces of clothing, including blue jeans and black and white Nike tekkies.
All role players were summoned to the scene.

A photo album, which formed part of the investigation, was compiled by Constable Bhuti Mathibela, an expert from the Local Criminal Record Centre.

The remains were taken to the government mortuary in Bethal. Postmortem findings were of a skull, left humorous bone, two tarsal bones, one radius and ulnar bones.

Police request anyone who might have lost a loved one between 2017 and 2018 to contact Detective Constable Xolani David Khuzwayo on 082 579 0177 for arrangements to identify the remains.
