Members of the Secunda Gymnastics Club took part in the Mpumalanga trials in Ermelo on May 25 and excelled.
Scarlett Coetzee and Marlienke du Rand each obtained a gold medal while Miera Swanepoel obtained a silver medal and Mia Zwart, Kari Cooper, Chloe Wride, Melissa Reynders, Ilse Lambrechts, Zoe-Jan Steyn and Miané Beelders obtained bronze medals.
All these gymnasts made it through to the Zone gymnastics competition, which was held on June 15 and 16 in Pretoria.
Other members of the Secunda Gymnastics Club who took part in the Eagles Gymnastics competition in Benoni on June 8 and 9 also excelled and achieved places on the podium.
They are Jordan Singh who finished first in the bench category and third in the trampoline and tumble categories respectively, Wessel Vermaas who finished first in three categories namely bench, trampoline and tumble, Jane du Preez who finished first in the bench category and tumble category and second in the trampoline category, Jethro Holloway who finished third in the bench, trampoline and tumble categories, Amily Obermeyer who finished first in the trampoline category and fourth in the bench and tumble categories, Xander Mellet who finished first in the bench, trampoline and tumble categories, Koos Crause who finished second in the trampoline and tumble categories respectively and fourth in the bench category, Jane Kasselman who finished second in the bench category, Tumelo Ngxongo who finished third in the trampoline category, Shiloh Holloway who finished third in the bench category and fourth in the trampoline category, Kristine Pienaar who finished third in the bench category and fourth in the trampoline category, Lesego Sehunwe and Taryn September who both finished fourth in the bench category and Marelie Venter who finished fourth in the trampoline category.
