Water levels at Grootdraai Dam continue to drop

The provincial water levels for Mpumalanga recorded a drop in the average dam levels from 95.7% to 95.3%.

The Department of Water and Sanitation’s reservoirs report of June 3 indicates a drop in water levels at Grootdraai Dam from last week’s 92.6% to 91.4%.

This dam in the Integrated Vaal River System in the Gert Sibande District of Mpumalanga has dropped again after recording a slight improvement in the previous week.

According to the department, most of the listed dams in the district recorded a decline in levels. Only Jericho Dam recorded a slight improvement from 68.0% to 68.5%. Vygeboom Dam remained unchanged at 100.3%.

The dams that joined the Grootdraai Dam in recording declines include Nooitgedacht from 92.0% to 90.9%, Westoe from 66.6% to 64.7%, Morgenstond from 86.3% to 85.2% and Heyshope from 100.8% to 100.5%.

The drop in most listed dams in the district is in line with the drop in Mpumalanga and the Water Management Areas.
