K9 Unit saves day after vehicle spiking near Bronkhorstspruit

The Bronkhorstspruit K9 Unit reacted quickly to the spiking to ensure road safety on the N4.

A spiking occurred on the N4 towards Emalahleni, just outside Bronkhorstspruit, at 19:00 on June 2.

The Bronkhorstspruit K9 Unit’s swift response ensured the individuals involved in the vehicle spiking were safe.

Constable Munyadziwa Cathrine Ramovha, the communications officer for the Bronkhorstspruit SAPS, said, “After the individuals’ vehicle was spiked, they remained calm and followed established safety protocols.

The victims drove to a safe location without sustaining any injuries.

“The Bronkhorstspruit K9 Unit responded promptly to the incident and helped the individuals involved change their tyre. The swift response and teamwork in the incident highlighted the importance of collaboration in ensuring road safety.”

In the event of a vehicle spiking, it is essential to:

• Reduce speed and keep moving;
• Hold the steering wheel with both hands as the vehicle pulls to one side;
• Drive as far as possible;
• Avoid stopping on highways unless absolutely necessary;
• Seek assistance at a well-lit petrol station;
• Ensure sufficient fuel for your trip.
