TP Stratten learners visit to the Evander police station

According to the Evander police spokesperson, Sergeant Zukiswa Mxhotyelwa, the event aimed to expose children to the police working environment and to show them how the police station works while they also participated.

Evander Police Social Crime Prevention and Department of Education hosted a Take a Girl Child to Work campaign on May 22, where they invited learners from TP Stratten Primary School to their police station.

According to the Evander police spokesperson, Sergeant Zukiswa Mxhotyelwa, the event aimed to expose children to the police working environment and to show them how the police station works while they also participated.

Mxhotyelwa took them to different offices. The group began at the community service centre where they assisted with certifying the documents for the community and also saw how the police opened cases, captured it on the system and transferred it to the detective branch.

“I also took them to the detective branch, where the branch commander explained everything about the docket and the suspect and why there must be an investigation.

“The children had the chance to ask questions. We also showed them the holding cells where people stay when arrested. We advised the learners to stay away from crime,” said Mxhotyelwa.
