Group effort settles dust in Eloff

“Instead of filling the potholes, some roads were unnecessarily graded.”

In recent months, some roads in Eloff underwent grading, causing a dust cloud over Eloff and the nearby Laerskool Eloff.

“Instead of filling the potholes, some roads were graded unnecessarily,” said DA Ward Clr Diane Bath.

One such road is St Andrews Lane, which leads from the R555 to Laerskool Eloff.

According to Bath, Universal Coal and local farmers sprayed the road with water on May 11 to suppress the dust.
Bath said the Victor Khanye Local Municipality (VKLM) helped supply the water.

“As the Ward Clr for Eloff, Rietkol and Breswol areas, on behalf of the Eloff residents, I appreciate the team effort,” said Bath.

The Laerskool Eloff principal, Louise van Niekerk, expressed gratitude to Universal Coal, the local farmers and everyone involved in this intervention.

“Your efforts and hard work contribute to the safety and well-being of learners and residents,” wrote Van Niekerk in an e-mail addressed to Bath.

“Thank you for your willingness to address this serious issue,” Van Niekerk concluded.
