Participants have a blast at Standerton parkrun

Tshiamo Lephoto crossed the finish line in a time of 17:36, while Sinethemwa Mazibuko recorded 19:12, a new personal best.

Altogether 54 participants joined the parkrun on May 4 at 08:00 with five athletes improving their times and four first-timers arriving.

Siphiwe Motaung registered 22:11, a new personal best, followed by Mthokozisi Sehbiko’s 26:04 at his first event.

Delaney Grobbelaar came in at 26:48 at her 50th event, Pieter Grobbelaar completed the distance in 27:12 and André Minnaar in 28:09, a new personal best.

Andrew Ainsworth recorded 30:48 at his 50th event, Thikolelwi Mudau 32:46 and Patricia Mudau 32:46.
Charl van Wyk, Jan Lombaard, Johannes Vosloo, Leandri van Wyk, Lia Niemand, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Lydia Roets, Renette de Sousa, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Theo Schönfeldt and Zeldine Strydom took up positions to ensure a safe and smooth event.


Jeanette Saayman and Elna Vermaak are regulars at the parkrun.

The parkrun on Freedom Day attracted 57 participants who were out of the blocks at 08:00. Run director, Séan Jansen van Rensburg did the countdown at the run.

This event at Standerton River Park is free of charge and offers runners, joggers and walkers the opportunity to compete against themselves.

SuperSpar was thanked for donating water to the participants. Mbali Nkutha crossed the finish line in a time of 25:10 at his first event, while Omran Marzugi recorded 25:44 and Wassie Rossouw 27:44.

Thikolelwi Mudua registered 28:27, Jose Joseph 30:39 and Andrew Ainsworth 30:40 at his 50th event. Elmien Vermaak completed a personal best of 34:02, while Motsamayi Radebe came in at 39:17 at his 50th event.

Stephnie Schoonraad recorded an improved time of 39:44, Owethu Ndlovu 40:29 and Vusi Mavuso 40:35.
Conrie Roets, Frans Vermaak, Johannes Vosloo, Krishnalal Ramdharee, Lia Niemand, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Lydia Roets, Marjorie Uys, Nicky Niemand, Priscilla Ramdharee, Renette de Sousa, Ruwan Vermaak, Sylvy Moodley and Zeldine Strydom volunteered to ensure a safe and smooth parkrun.

Participants are reminded to bring their barcodes along to have their times recorded.
