Bethal Police arrest Zimbabwean for dealing in dagga

Court postpones the case to May 17.

Bethal SAPS arrested a 43-year-old Zimbabwean man on March 27 for dealing in dagga.

According to the spokesperson of Bethal SAPS, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, the police received a tip-off from a resident who saw the suspect using a rope to offload something from a cement tanker, which was parked next to a tuckshop near Bethal.

The police arrived at the scene, searched the tanker, and found compressed dagga with an estimated street value of R100 000 inside the tanker.

The suspect, Timothy Rugara, appeared in the Bethal Magistrate’s Court on March 28 and was released on bail of R5 000.

The case was postponed to May 17.

The provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela, welcomed the arrest of the suspect and applauded the police for their unwavering commitment to battling the dealing of dagga.
