Nearly 80 participants line up at Standerton River Park

Welcome Ndlangisa crossed the finish line at 23:55, followed by Timothy Hoop who registered 23:59 and Janko van der Linden 25:39.

Participants on March 9 celebrated Standerton parkrun’s sixth anniversary, and some arrived with funky hairstyles.

Altogether 78 participants waited on Séan Jansen van Rensburg, run director, to give the go-ahead at 08:00.

Standerton River Park hosts this free event for runners, joggers and walkers to compete against themselves.

Welcome Ndlangisa crossed the finish line in a time of 23:55, followed by Timothy Hoop, who registered 23:59 and Janko van der Linden 25:39.


Renette de Sousa and Lizette Jansen van Rensburg celebrate an anniversary.

Wassie Rossouw recorded 26:16, Leann Moll 27:06, Christo Tities 28:01, Pieter Grobbelaar 28:47 and Jacey Moll 30:01.

Ayanda Dlamini completed the distance at 30:19, Pomesan Govender at 30:19, Mariette Jansen van Vuuren at 30:39 and Brendan Archer in 30:41.

Jose Joseph came in at 30:45, Andrew Ainsworth at 32:44, Dina Oberholzer at 33:52, Nitin Daya at 34:33 and Biju David at 35:02.

The volunteers Renette de Sousa, Sonja Fouche, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Conrie Roets, Lydia Roets, Lorinda Smith, Zeldine Strydom, Patrick Tsotetsi, Marjorie Uys, Frans Vermaak, Ruwan Vermaak, Elmien Vermaak en Johannes Vosloo ensured a smooth and safe event.
