Nearly 70 participants arrive for parkrun at Standerton River Park

Standerton River Park hosts this free event, offering runners, joggers and walkers the chance to compete against themselves.

Altogether, 69 participants took on the parkrun on March 2 at 08:00 after run director Charl van Wyk gave the go-ahead.

Bongane Mpokane crossed the finish line in a new personal best of 18:13, while Oupanyana Kubheka came in at 21:53.

Timothy Hoop registered a time of 24:57, Andiswamahlubi Hadebe 26:57, Johan Ferreira made 27:14 in his 50th event, Wassie Rossouw 27:31 and Delaney Grobbelaar 27:33 in her 50th event.

Pieter Grobbelaar recorded 28:02, Jose Joseph 31:27, Nitin Daya 31:32 and Andrew Ainsworth 31:35 in his 50th event.

Volunteers ensure a safe and smooth event, and Elmien Vermaak, Frans Vermaak, Ishara Pillay, Jennifer Naidoo, Johannes Vosloo, Kay Pillay, Leandri van Wyk, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Lydia Roets, Marius Kilian, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Strini Naidoo, Sylvy Moodley and Zeldine Strydom were in strategic positions.
