Bethal Correctional Services shares fraternal love

Male officials at Bethal Correctional Services show love, care, and respect toward woman officials on Valentine’s Day.

The men in the office of the area commissioner of Bethal Correctional Services Management Area caught their woman colleagues by surprise for Valentine’s Day on February 14.

The men had a lovely moment of sweetening the women’s day by showing them love, tenderness and care.
Abel Mashaba, Bethal Management area commissioner, was the first to give out a Valentine’s gift, a bar of chocolate and a rose to Erica Grobler.

This was Grobler’s last Valentine’s Day with the department as she will be soon hanging up her uniform with her departure.

All other female officials were showered with similar gifts. According to Mashaba, the event was a gesture of acknowledging and appreciating the contribution of women officials. He urged male officials to show kindness and be supportive of their female colleagues.

“Today’s event symbolises the showing of love and respect to all our female officials. We love you, we care for you, and we respect you,” he said.

He also emphasised the significance of sharing fraternal love within the workplace and encouraged all officials to have tolerance and mutual respect among themselves.

“To the men at the area commissioner’s office, you are the best. This Valentine’s gesture will stay in our hearts. Thank you so much,” said Grobler.

On the same day, women offenders of Bethal Correctional Centre had a spectacular Valentine’s Day occasion.

A beauty contest was held under the theme, ‘Bringing back self-love’. The message brought forward was of encouraging self-love by removing the mask of fear, inferiority complex, and low self-esteem.

Guest speaker Nelisiwe Buthelezi of the Department of Culture, Sports and Recreation encouraged offenders to continue to have faith in the love of God.

She pleaded with them to give the rehabilitation process a chance to effectively revive their lives.
