Cullinan Neighbourhood Watch helps cut grass

To reduce the rate of crime in Cullinan, Neighbourhood Watch cut the grass in the high-crime areas.

The Sector 4 neighbourhood from Rayton and Cullinan headed to the streets on February 17 to clean the town areas where crimes are prevalent.

Most areas where they cut the grass are hotspots for crime in Cullinan. Neighbourhood Watch is about people getting together with their neighbours to take action to reduce crime.

This is an avenue to develop close liaisons between households in a neighbourhood, the local police and other relevant agencies.

These community initiatives are owned and run by the community members, whom the police support, but they do not own them.

Residents discuss and plan potential solutions to address the area’s crime problems at Neighbourhood Watch meetings.

It is also a great way to meet and get to know your neighbours, which enhances everyone’s safety in the neighbourhood.

Anyone wanting to join the local Neighbourhood Watch may attend a meeting and sign up to volunteer.

To join the Neighbourhood watch, Call Luzaan Joubert on 060 995 8952 (Cullinan), André Gloy on 082 901 5511 (Bapsfontein) or Martiens Jacobs on 082 401 4078 (Rayton).
