Almost 80 participants waited on parkrun run director Renette de Sousa to give the go-ahead on February 24 before 08:00.
Standerton River Park hosts this free event for runners, joggers and walkers to complete 5km, competing against themselves.
Altogether, 11 athletes improved their times. Tshiamo Lephoto crossed the finish line in 16:08, while Patrick Tsotetsi recorded 21:40 and Welcome Ndlangisa 23:49, a new personal best.
Parh Jayram registered 27:11, Delaney Grobbelaar 27:18 in her 50th event, Pieter Grobbelaar 27:31 and Christo Tities an improved time of 28:01.
Theo Schönfeldt completed the distance in 28:19, Jayden Tities in 28:25 in his first event and Keiden Johns in 31:10, a new personal best.
The parkrun was made possible by volunteers, with Charl van Wyk, Conrie Roets, Frans Vermaak, Jennifer Naidoo, Johannes Vosloo, Leandri van Wyk, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Lorinda Smith, Lydia Roets, Marjorie Uys, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Sonja Fouche, Sylvy Moodley and Zeldine Strydom ensured a safe and smooth event.
