Sasol Marathon attracts more athletes to Secunda

Organisers said marathon was a great success.

The annual Sasol 3-in-1 Marathon took place on February 17, and Msawenkosi Buthelezi won the 42km with a time of 02:28:08.

Tshedza Munyai finished second in 02:33:34, and Pule Hlabahlaba finished third in 02:36:20. Eunice Nhlapo was the first woman in the 42km race to cross the finish line in 03:20:05.

Bianca Snell finished second in 03:29:46, and Arlene van Staden came third in 03:39:40. Hlabahlaba also won the men’s category of 40 to 49 years, while Maseko Ntuthuko finished second in this category in 02:45:25.

In the men’s category of 50 to 50 years, Lukas Mahlanga was the first to cross the finish line in 03:09:48, and Abednego Shongwe finished second in 03:21:50.

Jonas Khelerwa won the men’s 60 years and older category in 03:41:41. Nhlapho also won the women’s category of 40 to 49 years, while Van Staden finished second.

In the women’s category of 50 to 59 years, Marietjie Lombard was the first to cross the finish line in 04:34:59, while Phindiwe Nkambule finished second in 04:38:49.

Lynn da Silva won the women’s category of 60 years and older in 04:24:22.

Lesetja Papo won the 21km race in 01:09:31, while Musawenkosi Mnisi finished second in 01:09:52 and Charles Soza third in 01:14:15.

Michelle Parkes won the 21km race among the women and finished in 01:28:22, while Kaitlyn Bubb finished second in 01:31:19 and Robyn Kaltenbrunn third in 01:33:31.

Papo also won the open category, while Stimos Ntuli finished second in 01:15:08 and Bethuel Mbuli third in 01:16:59.

Mnisi was also the first runner in the junior category, while Unkarabile Romoithek finished second in 01:23:26 and Taheer Miller third in 01:42:04.

Soza won the men’s category for 40 to 40 years, while Graham Maliwesa finished second in 01:15:02 and Sipho Lukhele third in 01:23:47.

In the men’s category of 50 to 59 years, Senoph Tsotetsi won and finished the race in 01:14:18, while Kobus Roets finished second in 01:28:14.

In the men’s category for 60 years and older, Linda Maphaqa won in 01:40:54.

Among the women, Parkes also won the junior category, Bubb was the winner in the open category, Kaltenbrunn came second, and Emien Manzini was the third runner with a time of 01:35:29.

In the women’s category for 50 to 59 years, Thuli Mbatha was the first woman to cross the finish line in 01:41:23, while Esther Pilowe finished second in 01:49:14.

Retha Hatting won the women’s category for 60 years and older in 01:55:55.

Siyabonga Xowana won the 10km race in 34:37, Sipho Hlatswayo finished second in 35:32 and Mxdisi Motlopah third in 35:52.

In the junior category for men, Emmanual Molahing won in 35:05, Sandile Ndlangamandla finished second in 39:30, and Rudie Snyman third in 47:00.

Philani Mkwanazi was the first runner to cross the finish line in the men’s category of 40 years and older in 39:50, and Shalda Naicker finished second in 39:57.

Johannes Sibande won the men’s category for 50 years and older in 42:20, and May Sithole finished second in 42:38.

Joheinne Makhanya won the men’s category of 60 and older in 01:00:57, and Gerhard Kroucamp won the walking category for men in 01:06:48.

Maria Shai won the women’s category of the 10km race in 45:02, Sharona Kley finished second in 47:03, and Makhosi Mhlongo third in 47:28.

Kley also won the junior category, while Azelia Zithu finished second in 48:48 and Kamogelo Mnisi third in 55:46.
Makhosi Mhlongo won the category for women 40 years and older in 47:29, and Refilwe Motaung came second.

Antoinette Hartslief won the women’s category of 50 years and older in 59:06, and Lina Mhlongo finished second.
Beauty Kubheka won the women’s category for 60 years and older in 01:03:08, and Erika Swart was the first walker among the women to cross the finish line.
