Vukta safely carries commuters

Aron Mahlangu said that, as an organisation, they always strive for accident-free taxis, but accidents do happen.

The Vukanini Taxi Association’s (Vukta) leadership said despite them experiencing a high volume of commuters travelling across the provinces for the festive holiday, their members were not in any accidents.

According to the organisation’s secretary, Aron Mahlangu, their drivers behaved, and they found no drivers under the influence of alcohol or driving recklessly. All commuters safely arrived at their destinations.

“First, we thank the commuters for supporting us, although it was not easy. Our long-distance taxi ranks experienced a high number of commuters travelling to various destinations.

“What became our main challenge was the delay by the traffic board in issuing operating licenses for some of the members. That, alone, forced us to stop other minibuses to transport commuters.

“But we managed to use all those that were available at the time.

“As we head to the Good Friday holidays, we appeal to our commuters to try to use different days when travelling with our taxis and not to all come at once,” said Mahlangu.

Mahlangu said the organisation always strives for accident-free taxis.
