With the long school holidays ahead, keeping the children busy does not have to be a daunting task. Clay is always a winner in keeping little hands busy.
You can let them make Christmas tree decorations or tags to decorate a gift or a Christmas gift for a grandparent.
Other ideas include a snowman candle holder or a name plaque to hang on the child’s bedroom door.
You will need:
- Air-dry clay in various colours
- Cookie cutters
- A dough roller
- String
- Toothpicks to make a hole
Method:
- Take out just enough clay to use for the item at hand. Keep the rest closed in its packaging or covered with a damp cloth.
- Roll out the dough and use a cookie cutter for a Christmas pattern, or let the child sculpt their creation.
- If they make Christmas tree decorations or gift tags, use the toothpick to pierce a hole large enough to thread string through.
- When the creations are complete, leave them on a tray to dry according to the instructions on the package.
