Taekwon-do Cullinan Club performs at their best

The Asian Taekwon-Do Federation (ATC) Cullinan Club hosted the final Tiny Tigers and Avengers tournament.

The Asian Taekwon-Do Federation (ATC) Cullinan Club hosted the final Tiny Tigers and Avengers tournament on December 2.

Altogether 20 Tiny Tigers aged between four and 10 from ATC Taekwon-do Cullinan and ATC Taekwon-do Rayton entered the tournament.

The competition began with traditional hand and foot technique patterns, followed by knife and nunchaku patterns. They then moved to point and combat weapons sparring, where they showed off their skills.

Board-focused kicking was the next event for the little ninjas to show they were focused on kicking a target with enough force to switch a pressure switch on.

The last and final event for the Tiny Tigers was having a target set above their head height to kick, demonstrating scissors action with their legs to kick the target.

Eight students won overall gold medals, and 12 received overall silver medals. The day carried on with the Avengers tournament for ages 11 to 60. They started with traditional ITF Taekwon-do patterns followed by knife, nunchaku and staff patterns.

Challenging point and combat weapon sparring was followed by multiple board breaking. Finally, special techniques at set heights had to be kicked with different techniques.

Eight Avengers received gold medals, and 19 obtained silver. Justin Collett, the founder of the Cullinan Taekwon-do Club, thanked their sponsors.
