eMzinoni police welcome new station commander

"eMzinoni is a big township and what I noticed is contact crimes that emanate from alcohol consumption."

Captain Lucky Nkosi is a new eMzinoni police station commander since October 2. Nkosi began working as a sector commander at Ermelo Police Station from 2008 to 2018.

He then joined the Ermelo cluster team that was tasked to reduce crime in 12 police stations, focusing largely on problematic police stations. He also worked as a visible police head in Mayflower from 2021 until September this year.

“eMzinoni is a big township and contact crimes that emanated from alcohol consumption are the most common,” said Nkosi.

“The community and the CPF are active in the fight against crime and I am looking forward to working with them to create a safer environment.

“I urge everyone to protect the vulnerable children and elderly people. I also appeal to the local community structures to join the fight against crime and corruption. Together we can reduce crime within our community,” said Nkosi.

Nkosi won many awards.

He clinched the award for Gert Sibande District Vispol and Operations Employee of the year in 2022, then went on to compete on a provincial level where he also won the Mpumalanga Vispol and Operations Employee of the Year award in the same year.

His team won the accolade for team of the year in operations at district level and also won the award in community complaint reaction time. Nkosi said the police’s reaction time to community complaints is the core function of the police.

Nkosi said he achieved all his awards because of being patient with the community that he serves and for being focused on his work.
