Nearly 60 participants take on the Standerton parkrun

Emmanuel Motaung crossed the finish line in a new personal best of 17:44, while Bongane Mpokane also ran a new personal best of 18:19.

Altogether 59 participants were out of the blocks on October 28 after run director, Charl van Wyk, did the countdown at 08:00.

The parkrun at the Standerton River Park is made possible by volunteers who are deployed at strategic points.

This free event offers athletes, joggers and walkers the opportunity to compete against themselves, with seven athletes improving their times and four new faces seen the past weekend.

Emmanuel Motaung crossed the finish line in a new personal best of 17:44, while Bongane Mpokane also ran a new personal best of 18:19.

Mthokozizi Tshwala came in at 20:43, followed by Kutloano Tsotetsi who registered 23:31 and Johan Ferreira who competed in his 50th event, recording a time of 25:24.

Reneilwe Tsotetsi clocked in at 25:42, a new personal best, while Welcome Ndlangisa recorded a new personal best of 25:48.

Wassie Rossouw also improved on his times and registered 25:55, while Daleney Grobbelaar completed the distance in 26:47.

Antoinette Herbst, Danie Human, Elna Vermaak, Johannes Vosloo, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Preyanka Dorasamy, Renette de Sousa, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Wessel Herbst and Zeldine Strydom ensured a smooth and safe event.
