LCF has vision to change the lives of people in Lekwa

“This new administration began the municipality from scratch, rebuilding relationships and stopping corruption and looting,” Thabethe added.

Lekwa Community Forum (LCF) hosted a Heritage Day celebration at the Walter Kinnear Hall on September 23.

The event was aimed to promote heritage in diversity, with different cultural groups, singers and motivational speakers participating.

The president of the organisation, Delani Louis Thabethe, gave the keynote address after Pastor Sipho Radebe encouraged members to excel in their different roles and responsibilities.

He stressed the importance of paying service as responsible citizens and indicated the importance of supporting the leadership to make a positive impact.

Pastor Siphiwe Tshabalala mentioned that it is important to support a local organisation that has a vision to change the lives of people in Lekwa.

He also asked the leadership to continue making sure that there is change, saying improvements in the past 20 months were noticed.

Thabethe gave a reason as to why the LCF existed and encouraged members and stakeholders to work together to build Lekwa.

He mentioned that the situation in the municipality was worse than anticipated, saying the municipality was in total collapse, with no policies and no system in place.

According to him, the municipality exists to pay salaries and cannot afford to provide basic services due to the low morale of employees.

“This new administration began the municipality from scratch, rebuilding relationships and stopping corruption and looting,” Thabethe added.

“As much as it is difficult to change the status quo, this administration will continue to do what is best for the people of Lekwa, simply because Lekwa is our home. The previous administration allowed people from Nelspruit and Ermelo to do as they pleased in Lekwa.”

The president encouraged everyone to join hands in improving the lives of residents, saying Lekwa must come first for everyone.
