Centre makes life a little easier for kids in eMbalenhle

“We prepare food for all those children coming out of school and those not at school.”

The Inkosinathi Drop-In Centre in Ext 14, eMbalenhle, celebrated its sixth year.

The centre supports needy children in their community through its daily feeding scheme, including holidays.

Phindile Khubheka, the organisation’s founder and chairperson, said that since the centre had opened, many children had benefited, and their numbers increased daily.

“We have about 100 children who, daily, depend on our services, which include the feeding scheme and homework assistance.

“The centre prepares food for all those children coming out of school and those not at school. We take children from ages three to 15,” said Khubheka.

Khubheka said they had holiday programmes to keep the children off the streets.

She said their centre needed more equipment, including a library.

The centre operates from Monday to Friday and during school holidays.

Khubheka said anyone who wanted to assist could call her on 072 863 1740.
