Secunda Police anglers receive two trophies

All six members of the team qualified to go to the nationals in October.

The Secunda Bobbies angling team who all qualified to go to the nationals and received two trophies are Captain Sakkie Sachse, Warrant Officer André Henn, Lieutenant-Colonel Tienie Pretorius (team captain), Warrant Officer Nico Veldman, Lieutenant-Colonel Wayne Marias and Warrant Officer Petro Bester.

Local police officers excelled at the SAPS Mpumalanga Freshwater Bank Angling championship held from April 17 to 21 at Trichardtsfontein Dam.

The Secunda Bobbies team finished second overall and received a trophy for being the best-dressed team.

All six members of the Secunda Bobbies qualified to be part of the Mpumalanga team that will take part in the nationals in October at Gariep Dam.

Warrant Officer Petro Bester won an award for the best novice angler, while Lieutenant-Colonel Wayne Marais finished second for the angler who caught the most fish.

He caught 118 fish over three days.

Team captain Lieutenant-Colonel Tienie Pretorius thanked Hook It and KSC Clothing.
