Bethal Police arrest man for violation of grave

A 39-year-old man was arrested on April 27 at Rustfontein Farm for violating a grave.

The man allegedly dug up the grave 4m deep when a farm worker saw him and contacted the police.

According to the spokesman of Bethal Police, Const Thomas Mogadime, the man was found inside the grave and the police instructed him to come out.

He managed to do so by using the stairway he created inside the grave. The police also found the remains of the body dug out from the violated grave.

The police noticed that the violated grave had a tombstone which belonged to the late Henry Regionald Pattison and Basil Stuart Pattison.

The suspect was arrested and taken to Bethal Police cells for detention and charged accordingly.

He will appear in the Bethal Magistrate’s Court on Friday, April 28.
