Two escape with Hilux bakkie in Standerton

Crime rate rises in March.

A white Hilux bakkie was hijacked at Ext 7 in Standerton at about 15:30 on Sunday, December 4. Two men with firearms took the keys of the bakkie from the owner and fled with the vehicle.

The tracking unit of the bakkie was activated and the bakkie was recovered at Landau Street in Meyerville. The owner opened a case at the police, but no arrests have yet been made.

Other crime reported recently was a residential burglary that occurred at Brits Street in Meyerville.

According to the records of Kasselman Security, there were also six cases of housebreakings in November, three business burglaries, one case of damage to property, one robbery and one case of theft.

According to their crime statistics for the year so far, March was the month with the highest crime rate with 13 cases of housebreakings, while June was the month with the second highest crime rate.
