Retired teachers assist one another in needy situations

It is not only those in the educating profession who can join, but clerks and general workers of the department, who stay in Standerton, are welcome to join.

Retired teachers from the Department of Education met one another at a restaurant on Wednesday, November 16 for a get-together.

These women would like to establish a foundation and focus on helping those in situations where loved ones are lost.

They have formed a committee with Gloria Morati acting as chairperson and Joyce Gama and Peggy Mtunzi acting as secretaries.

“We contribute R50 each to help with the cost of funerals for the deceased,” Morati said.

Morati and Gama gave advice to parents on how to prepare their children for the learning experience.

“They should be there for their children’s education,” Gama said.

“Education is a chain involving the parents, teachers and children,” Morati said.
