Healing Mercy mass choir from eMbalenhle is nominated for the Crown Gospel Music Awards

“Before we entered the Crown Awards, we won the 9th Independent National Gospel Music Awards known as Ingoma and the choir has grown to the extent that it has followers outside eMbalenhle.”

The Healing Mercy Choristers Mass Choir from eMbalenhle is amongst the choirs that have been nominated to compete for the Best Amaziyoni in the 15th Crown Gospel Music Awards.

This mass choir was founded in eMbalenhle five years ago with the intention to take young people off the street and exposing their singing talent.

According to Zakhele Shabangu, choir secretary, their main objective to enter the gospel award is to showcase the talent from eMbalenhle and to compete with the best gospel groups in the country.

“Since the choir was established, we have released three albums titled Khumbula Lezonsuku, Lizokhanya Ilanga and Mercy.

Before we entered the Crown Awards, we won the 9th Independent National Gospel Music Awards known as Ingoma and the choir has grown to the extent that it has followers outside eMbalenhle.

We are appealing to everyone in the Govan Mbeki Municipality and other communities to vote for us to take this award as we will be competing against the best,” said Shabangu.

The 15th Crown Gospel Music Awards will take place in Durban ICC Arena on Sunday, November 27.

To vote for the Healing Mercy Choristers, voters can SMS CROWN 18 to 34068 and SMS cost R150, voting closes on Sunday, November 27.
