Sasol 1 wins Mpumalanga T20 league

George Louw is top scorer for Sasol Cricket Club.

SECUNDA – Sasol Cricket Club was crowned as the Mpumalanga T20 champions on Sunday, November 6 on their home field after they beat both the Daredevils and the LVCC1 cricket teams.

Sasol first faced the Daredevils, the winners of the Nkangala region. The Daredevils only managed to score 148 runs, all out.

Sasol’s team captain, Colin van Staden, took five wickets for 14 runs in his four overs.

Sasol reached the target in the 19th over and won with six wickets. George Louw of Sasol scored 69 runs off 39 balls.

In Sasol’s second match, they squared off against LVCC1, the winners of the Ehlanzeni region.

Sasol batted first and scored 159 runs in 20 overs. Louw was again one of the top scorers and made 69 runs.

LVCC1 only managed to make 115 runs in their 20 overs and Sasol won the match with 44 runs.

Louw was the leading run scorer with 418 runs in 10 innings with a run rate of 66,7 while Nicus Boshoff was second best with 386 in 12 innings at 48,3 and Dewald Erasmus third with 212 runs in five innings with a run rate of 72,2.

Vernon Fourie was the best wicket-taker with 16 at 16 while Boshoff finished second best with 13 at 18,5 and Louw third with eight at 15,5.
