Kedi Art students in Secunda walk away winners at Con Spirito national forte rounds

SECUNDA – First-time participating students from Kedi Art Atelier and Art Shop, came out victorious and earned seven places in the national forte round of the Con Spirito competition that began in July.

The competition lead up to the national forte rounds held from September to October in Alberton, and its prestige awards function was held on October 15.

Con Spirito is a unique cultural society with cultural enthusiasm and is passionate about giving children the chance to live out their talents.

They aim to promote culture, create opportunities and discover and develop talent.

In the provincial round, which was held throughout the country at different centres, Kedi Art students produced several items and qualified for the national forte rounds.

They are Megan Coetzee (Grade 3) – pastel drawing, Cailyn Mae Potgieter (Grade 3) – gouache painting, Cara Pool (Grade 4) – pastel drawing, Neané Pool (Grade 4) – watercolour painting, Shaun Carroll (Grade 5) – oil painting and charcoal drawing, Lente Hayward (Grade 5) – pastel drawing and oil painting, Hannah Ritchie (Grade 6) watercolour painting, Juané Welthagen (Grade 7) – colour pencil drawing, oil pastel drawing and ink drawing and Mieke van Jaarsveld (Grade 7) – oil painting.

Kedi Art students who obtained places and were awarded as national winners at the national forte rounds are Megan Coetzee (pastels), Cailyn Potgieter (watercolour gouache), Lente Hayward (pastels), Juané Welthagen with two first places for oil pastels and ink (pointillism) and Shaun Carroll with two first places for oil and charcoal.
Owner and teacher of Kedi Art Atelier, Adriana Uzunoglu, is proud of all her students’ achievements and cannot wait to see what other great works of art they are going to create next year.
