Evander Court hosts justice imbizo

“Currently, we are faced with a high rate of domestic violence, this shows that people need help.”

Evander Court held a justice imbizo in celebration of Freedom Day on Wednesday, April 27.

According to Thembi Msibi, Evander Magistrate’s Court intermediary, the justice imbizo was called to encourage communities to use the free services available at the Evander Magistrate’s Court.

She said hosting the imbizo on Freedom Day was to show the public that justice is available for them every day, no matter whether it is a holiday or weekend.

“As we are working with different stakeholders, that includes other government departments and community organisations, it is easy to assist them.

“Currently, we are faced with a high rate of domestic violence cases, this shows that people need help.

Domestic violence can be prevented only if the community understands where to go if they have problems in their homes,” said Msibi.

Services that were available during the justice imbizo, were domestic violence, maintenance, estate, divorce and children’s courts.

Msibi encouraged community members not to leave court without being assisted.

A justice imbizo was held at Lillian Ngoyi Centre in Secunda.
