Hawks nab 5 for stealing railroad line in Morgenzon

The estimated damage is R1,5 million.

The Hawks Serious Crime Investigation, based in Secunda, apprehended five suspects in Morgenzon on Friday, April 29.

This follows a tip-off about the stealing of railway lines.

The suspects, aged between 27 and 56, were found loading railway lines onto two trucks, a tractor, a front loader and a bakkie.

The estimated damage is R1,5 million. The suspects were detained and charged pending a court appearance in the Morgenzon Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, May 2.

They are facing charges of damage of infrastructure, theft and possession of suspected stolen property.
