Man dies in a head-on collision in Leandra

A man died in a head-on collision on the R50 in Leandra late on Saturday night, March 19.

According to Russel Meiring, communication officer for ER24 ambulance services, four other adults were also injured in the crash between the two cars.

Meiring said their ambulance and other emergency services arrived on the scene at 23:00 to find two light motor vehicles in the road, one on its roof.

“On closer inspection, medics found the body of a man lying in front of one of the cars. Four other adults were walking around,” he said.

Meiring said medics assessed the patients and found that the man had already succumbed to his numerous injuries.

“Nothing could be done for him, and he was declared dead.

The four other patients sustained minor to moderate injuries.”

The patients were treated and later transported to Evander Provincial Hospital for further care. The local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
